(Click each for more details)
Temple Attire
Long pants & shoulder cover (shirt or scarf)Other suggestions
-
Camera / GoPro / Drone (allowed in many of the locations we visit)
-
Travel Power Adapter / Voltage Converter (Thailand fits both USA and UK plugs at 220v). Most electronic devices have power adapters that convert themselves and will not need a separate adapter, however, some hair dryers and curling irons, for example, do not. Always check the voltage of your devices before plugging them in.
-
Credit and Debit Card. Credit Cards are accepted at many hotels, restaurants, and convenience stores throughout Thailand, but cash reigns king in Thailand for smaller street vendors, night market stalls, and smaller institutions. ATM's are plentiful, and we recommend using debit cards that waive withdrawal fees such as our favorite bank, Schwab.
-
Insect repellant (We will have some on hand as well).

Highlights
Experience the charm of Bangkok, often dubbed the "Venice of the East," as you embark on a colorful longtail boat journey along the Chao Phraya River. Admire the captivating blend of modern skyscrapers, traditional wooden houses, and colonial relics that grace the city's skyline. After passing the iconic Wat Arun, venture into the enchanting Thonburi khlongs (canals), a labyrinth of waterways brimming with character.
Weave through the khlongs, witnessing the juxtaposition of teak houses and modern mansions that tell the story of Bangkok's evolving waterside communities. Pause at Wat Khun Chan, a hidden gem rarely visited by tourists, then cross a small footbridge to wander through charming old alleys. Savor a refreshing drink as you soak in the tranquil ambiance and observe the rhythm of local life.
Continue your exploration at Wat Paknam, another off-the-beaten-path temple, where you'll be captivated by its ginormous Buddha statue (the largest in Thailand!). Return to the boat and cruise along Khlong Bang Khuntien until you reach the secluded Poomjai Garden, a hidden oasis nestled on the canal's edge. Owned by a local family, this organic permaculture garden boasts a rich history spanning over a century, preserving rare plants and trees.
Take a leisurely stroll through the verdant gardens, relax by the canal with a signature local drink, and then prepare for a hands-on culinary adventure with a cooking class using fresh ingredients sourced from the nearby community.
